Kart Show Guidelines

The UVKA Kart show is open to all and a membership in any kart club is not a requirement to enter.

The UVKA Show Guidelines

The purpose of the Kart Show Guidelines is to:

  • Help in assigning a category for a vintage kart to be entered in the show.
  • Aid and assist the entrant in kart restoration to meet the desired requirements of a category
  • Be a guide for the show judges to have a set of criteria for determining a winner and compliance to a Category and Class.
    • There may be differences or exceptions to these Guidelines on a specific year kart.  It is recognized that kart manufacturers back in the day made running changes, variations, and improvements throughout their production run which may not comply with a calendar year but may still be period correct.
    • There is a point system for judging an individual kart to aid in determining the ranking of a kart within a category.  Detail items on a kart are listed on the judging form and a total point score will be tabulated. (See Judges Kart Show Work Sheet)

These Guidelines are somewhat flexible and are not hard and fast rules.

The show karts are separated into two Categories

  1. Show Only Karts
  2. Show and Go karts (Karts that have also participated in the on-track-portion of the event.)

There are 6 judging classes in each of the two Categories with two equal first place winners in the Show Only classes and a single winner in the Show and Go classes. (18 awards)

Show Only Category

Rear Engine Kart Class

  1. Unrestored Original
  2. Restored Original
  3. Modified

Sidewinder Karts Class

  1. Unrestored Original
  2. Restored Original
  3. Modified

Show and Go Category

Rear Engine Kart Class

  • Unrestored Original

Sidewinder Karts Class

Special attention will be afforded the Show and Go class entries due to the karts having been ‘on-the-track’.

People’s Choice Class; the “Fab Four” as the Best of Show (4 awards)

  • This is a non-judged category/class having event attendees vote by ballot to determine the four winners having the highest number of votes.   Show candidates can be in the Show Only and/or Show and Go category.  The winners are the “Fab Four” in the Best of Show Award.
  • The “Fab Four” winning karts are to be awarded equally.
  • The winners can also be winners in the Judged Classes.
